Result:
True to form, my brother the sneak, decided to see if my hamster could fly. Or at least, float. I found out by accident. He was looking guilty with shifty eyes and a smirk, so I followed him to his room. I peeked through his almost shut door and found Moby dick’s cage on Samuel’s dresser. Sam was bent over something, working. I leaned in and hit the doorknob with my forehead. It creaked open and Sam turned around, eyes wide and mouth drooping.
“Becca!” he yelled. He pulled me inside, shutting the door behind me.
I squinted for effect. “What are you doing?”
“Moby Dick is going to go where no hamster has gone before.” He held up a red cape, which was more like a parachute, grabbed Moby Dick and tried to jiggle the little harness over his squishy body. Thanks for visiting! Thanks, Angela!
ReplyDeleteOn Wednesday morning, I crossed out "cape" right away, then was drawn to "true" because I was in more of a dramatic then comedic mood.
It's now Thursday at the end of the day. Things have finally quieted down enough around me (and inside me) so I could write half a page in a relaxed state.
It begins with, "True to his wild nature, the stallion always snorted first. But then he lowered his head, blew softly, and moved forward, slowly, cautiously. [...]" I like the whole thing and will save it!
I see from your writing that the idea was to use all the words. Indeed you wrote "Prompt" and not "Prompts [to choose from]." But hey, it was Free Wednesday (that's how I think of it), so I did what I felt like doing, what worked for me. It is so-o-o hard for me to do free writing and it is so-o-o helpful to have a choice to begin with that I'll stick with that.
That is so beautiful. That's the great thing about the exercises, you use whatever words you want. There are plenty where I've only used half and some where I've tried to put them all into one sentence. Just fun to see where it takes you. Now I want to read your whole exercise! :-)
